Geoff wins jingle contest

Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith has won the Music City Central (MCC) BIG GIG Jingle Contest this past week and you can of course listen to the winning jingle right here.

Geoff’s jingle, titled “Brand New Way” edged out 91 others for the top prize. He received $1,500 cash (donated by corporate sponsor Balfour Beatty Construction), special recognition, and earned the opportunity to perform at the October 24th Grand Opening.

The jingle contest was to promote the opening of its new downtown transit station MCC, and was open to anyone ages 15 and older who live in the Nashville Metro Services Area.

Each entry had to be an original, 60-second jingle in any genre promoting MCC and the many benefits of public transportation. Celebrity judges and industry experts, including those who work on Music Row, chose the winner.

The celebrity judges included: Kirk Whalum (Grammy-nominated musician); Beverly Keel (Tennessean columnist); Tim Fink (Vice President Writer/Publisher Relations for SESAC, Inc.); Paul Kwami (Musical Director for Fisk Jubilee Singers); Woody Wood and Jim Chandler (Woody & Jim, 107.5 The River); Karen Leipziger (KBA Award-Winning Publicist); Deen Entsminger (Belmont University music professor and bus rider); Thomas F. “Freddie” O’Connell (MTA Board member); and Otho Webster (Division Vice President Balfour Beatty Construction, corporate sponsor for the contest.)

A Humanety event

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 by administrator

Geoff Smith has teamed up with Humanety which is an innovative new method of aiding charities.  Fans bid on auctions to meet their favorite celebrities, and this helps raise awareness and funds for worthy causes.

These meetings are conducted over Internet video conference, and shared with the world via the Humanety web site. The celebrity participants, or “Humanetarians” as they are also being called, are leaders of any sphere or discipline: world famous entertainers, business leaders, sports legends, musicians and authors.

Probably the easiest to just get Geoff to explain the details himself:
