Hello!

Geoff talks about ringtones on the iPhone and how it means something different to each person. For some it is just what it says it is - a tone that rings which tells you that your phone is ringing and that’s cool.

For some it is a clip of a song from some artist they like - but why stop there? The whole idea with RingtoneFeeder is to make a ringtone whatever it can be - all of the above and more.

A traditional instrumental tone is totally cool but we also love the idea about making a 15-20 second song that is actually made only to be a ringtone.

Geoff spent some time trying to figure out what would sound good on these little phone speakers and how to make a song that is also going to be heard as a ringtone - after all unless you put your iPhone on vibrate you really do want to hear when your phone rings.

The ringtones from Ringtonefeeder ranges from the funny, tongue-in-cheek type of ringtones to the more serious and traditional tones but common for them all is that they are made to be ringtones and optimized to sound great on your iPhone and all delivered automatically via iTunes .

Ones and 0s

Today I received the physical copy of Geoff Smith’s new album “Ones and 0s” and it looks fantastic!

If you haven’t already gotten the album you can now get the “traditional” CD version of the album over at CDbaby.com - or you can of course get the Dynamic Album here at RingtoneFeeder and enjoy exclusive extra material for a whole year.

This post was done on an iPhone using the brand new WordPress plugin (just search for it in iTunes) - it seems to work really well except you can’t position images and mark-up is not trivial at this point but a great start.

 
Now we just need Geoff to be able to compose and record ringtones on his iPhone as well.

This week the ringtone is titled “Still ringing”. This week the tone is inspired by user feedback and we sure hope you like the concept - and hey if you don’t get it let it go to voicemail. The instrumental tone is Digital this week - make sure you click “GET ALL” in iTunes if only one of the tones are downloaded automatically.

Cool Geoff Smith wallpapers

We have just updated the RingtoneFeeder web app to make it easier for you to get cool Geoff Smith wallpapers onto your new iPhone / iPod Touch 2.0

To get the wallpapers installed on your iPhone or iPod Touch is pretty easy if you have the latest firmware 2.0 - just visit the Wallpaper section in the on your iPhone, press and hold the wallpaper you link and wait for the “Save Image” button to appear.

 
Once you have saved the wallpaper it will be available in the Photos application on your iPhone and from there you can simply activate the wallpaper.

If you are on a previous firmware version there are several ways you can get the wallpapers onto your phone including a photo feed.

Extra material released

We have just released the first update to the Ones and 0s album which is a members only “Digg the Code Lounge Version” and we really hope you like it - you can read a bit more about the background of this version over at Geoff’s blog.

To get the update just check your Ones and 0s podcast in iTunes and refresh. The new track should be downloading right away, do drop us a line if you face any issues.
